Three days after the cargo ship MV Ocean Winner sank off the Odisha coast, search teams recovered an emergency beacon belonging to the vessel and a lifeboat from the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. The Panama flagged cargo ship went down on Saturday night, triggering an extensive search operation by the Indian Coast Guard. Of the vessel's crew, 22 people remain unaccounted for. Emergency beacon recovered The Indian Coast Guard ICGS Varad, a Vikram-class offshore patrol vessel, recovered an emergency beacon from the search area. According to Coast Guard spokesperson Commandant Amit Uniyal, a naval aircraft detected a distress transmission during an aerial search and directed ICGS Varad towards the location. The Coast Guard vessel subsequently located and recovered the beacon. Officials later verified that the device was associated with MV Ocean Winner. The recovery provides an important lead for the ongoing search, although it has not yet established the location of the missing crew. Lifeboat also found A lifeboat was also recovered from the search area, adding another potential clue for the rescue teams working in the Bay of Bengal. Despite these discoveries, authorities had not reported finding any of the 22 missing sailors at the time of the latest update.
