He later said passengers were told they would travel to Newcastle before continuing their journey to Bristol by bus, potentially involving another five or six hours of travel. Describing his experience, Blackwell called the situation a shambles and questioned why Newcastle had been chosen as the diversion airport. His account illustrates the difficulties passengers can face when a major airport disruption occurs, particularly when flights are diverted and travellers have to make additional arrangements to complete their journey. Runway Reopens, But Disruption Remains The reopening of the runway allowed Bristol Airport to resume flight operations, but the return to normal service was not immediate.
