The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Deputy Controller of Accounts, who was working as an Internal Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in connection with an alleged bribery case.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Choudhary. According to the information provided, the CBI registered a case against him on August 18, 2026, following a complaint alleging that he had demanded ₹15 lakh for expediting the renewal of a contract.
Alleged Demand for ₹15 Lakh
The case centres on an allegation that Choudhary demanded ₹15 lakh in exchange for facilitating the faster renewal of a contract.
Following the complaint, the CBI registered a case and initiated action against the government official. His arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, although the allegations remain subject to the legal process.
Official Under CBI Investigation
As an Internal Financial Advisor, the accused was working in a position involving financial responsibilities within the Information & Broadcasting Ministry.
The allegations therefore raise question about the use of official authority in matters involving government contracts and approvals. However, an allegation of bribery does not by itself establish guilt, and the claims will have to be tested through the appropriate legal proceedings.
Focus on Government Accountability
Cases involving alleged corruption among government officials often draw attention because they concern the integrity of public administration and the handling of official responsibilities.
The CBI intervention highlights the role of investigative agencies in examining complaints involving alleged misuse of official position. The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand and determine whether the evidence supports the charges.
Legal Process to Determine the Facts
At this stage, the case remain an allegation under investigation. The accused is entitled to due process, and guilt can only be established through the legal system.
Further developments in the case, including evidence gathered by the CBI and any response from Choudhary or his legal representatives, will provide greater clarity on the allegations.
The arrest nevertheless puts the spotlight on anti corruption enforcement and accountability within government institutions, particularly where officials are alleged to have sought personal benefits in connection with official contract.
