A 21 year old man has died nearly a week after suffering serious injurie in a crash involving two motor bikes in Reading, Berkshire.
According to Thames Valley Police, officers were called to the collision on Vastern Road at around 02:15 BST on 26 September. Police said one of the motorbikes was believed to have been carrying both a rider and a passenger.
The injured man, who was from Reading, was taken to hospital for treatment but died on Friday, the force said. His next of kin have been informed.
Following the incident, two men a 21 year old from Reading and a 20 year old from Oxford were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both were subsequently released on bail.
Police said the 21 year old was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit, driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and theft of a motor vehicle.
The 20 year old was additionally arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and theft of a motor vehicle, as well as failing to stop and failing to report an accident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Sgt Matt Cadmore appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information to contact Thames Valley Police.
Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the areas of Vastern Road, Caversham Road, Napier Road, Forbury Road, Kenavon Drive, Queens Road or Kings Road around the time of the crash.
The incident highlights the serious consequences that can follow road collisions, while the circumstances surrounding the crash and the allegations against those arrested remain subject to the ongoing investigation.
