Chirag Paswan Files Complaint Against Swatantra Bhardwaj Over Alleged Misuse of His Name

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan has filed a complaint with the Parliament Street police in New Delhi against Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, alleging that his name was “falsely and publicly” invoked to claim political protection. The complaint relate to the alleged assault of the father of a student activist during protest at Jantar Mantar in July. Paswan has denied having any connection with Bhardwaj or with the incident. Dated September 4, the complaint was filed by advocate Sushil Kumar, national president of the LJP (Ram Vilas) legal cell. It seeks registration of an FIR against Bhardwaj and calls for strict action over the alleged use of Paswan name. The complaint also ask the police to formally record that neither Chirag Paswan nor the LJP (Ram Vilas) has any association with Bhardwaj or the incident in question. The matter comes amid political attention surrounding the July protests and the alleged assault. By approaching the police, Paswan party has sought to publicly distance itself from the individual named in the complaint and from any claim that its political influence was used in connection with the incident.
