Manipur Violence Claims Three More Lives, Including Two Women

Three villagers, including two women, were killed and four others sustained bullet injuries after armed miscreants allegedly attacked N Teikhang Kuki village in Manipur Kangpokpi district on Monday, police said. The incident reportedly took place at around 7:30 am when armed assailants allegedly opened fire on villagers. Several houses were also reportedly set on fire during the attack, causing further concern among residents in the area. The deceased were identified as Tingneichin Lhouvum, 40, Hoineineng Lhoujem, 21, and Lamtinthang Lhoujem, 36. The four injured villagers were reportedly taken for medical treatment following the shooting. Details about the severity of their injuries were not immediately available. According to police, the attack involved armed individuals who allegedly targeted the village in the morning. Kuki Organisation Condemns Attack The Twilang Area Kuki CSO Working Committee of Kangpokpi strongly condemned the incident, describing it as unprovoke and barbaric. In a statement, the committee alleged that around 50 heavily armed miscreants carried out the attack. It further claimed that the attackers indiscriminately fired at civilians and set several houses ablaze. The allegations made by the community organisation have not been independently verified, and the exact sequence of events remains subject to investigation. The attack has raised fresh concerns about the safety of civilians in Kangpokpi, an area that has witnessed tensions and violence between communities.
